It is one of the longest-running, largest output flooring contractors in Philadelphia, completing over 700 projects annually; not counting continuous contract work. American Floors vast experience in the selection and installation of commercial floor coverings including carpet, VCT and resilient materials has reached deeply into major corporate centers, health care, sports facilities and academic institutions where aesthetics and durability are critical.
It didnt get to that level by accident. The company has achieved a well-earned reputation for quality over the years, which speaks to its ability to generate repeat business with some of the top educational and commercial enterprises in the tri-state region.
We pride ourselves on our ability to service the needs of our clients, said Vice President and Director of Operations Steve Conron. Our genuine commitment of professionalism has been our top priority; we give very specialized treatment to our clients.
Since 1966, the company has operated under the ideals of professionalism, innovation, and accountability and achieved much success because of it. The companys staff is built by enlisting highly skilled office professionals and installers. The majority of American Floors office staff has 20 or more years of commercial flooring experience, most of which was spent at American Floors, Inc. Additionally, many of American Floors, Incs on site installers have been with the company for over 20 years, as well as being longstanding members of Local 1823 and INSTALL certified.
American Floors, Inc took a proactive approach to investing in the education of their workforce, on site and off. Since the seventies, they have organized and hosted many training sessions in which manufacturers like Tarkett and Armstrong sent expert installation representatives to help refine techniques and help American Floors, Inc installers progress in their professional development.
In 1983, Armstrong partnered with American Floors in the installation of the Alfred I. DuPont Childrens Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. This $1.25 million project was the largest installation of Armstrong sheet vinyl to date and was a signature piece of American Floors performance.
We used one-tenth of the manpower the general contractor projected we would need, said Vice President Steve Conron, and we did the entire facility with three men and not a slip in the schedule. This performance continues today.
That being said, American Floors, Inc. fully supports the recent initiatives of the INSTALL program, which have taken the companys initial educational initiates to a much greater power. The International Standards and Training Alliance (INSTALL) is a career-long training and certification program offered to floor covering installers throughout the United States and Canada, through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
Dozens of major mills and manufacturers offer their technical experts to help keep the curriculum current with changing industry trends, which offers a great benefit to todays flooring industry. American Floors Inc continues to reach new heights of success and have maintained a traditional approach to excellence and customer service, which has subsequently opened doors to innovation and expansion.
Furthermore, the company is continually working to build the next generation of installer by providing sponsorships and actively participating in the flooring community organizations. VP and Director of Operations, Steve Conron, is a member of the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Committee, and Steve also plays a key role with the Resilient Flooring Association of Philadelphia, where he served as president until 2007. Steve spearheaded the RFAs efforts to increase its positive impact on its members by modernizing and streamlining operations; plus arranging to have widely respected executive Mr. Joseph Barilotti to serve as Executive Director.
Together with new officers and board of directors, the RFA is growing to serve the flooring contractors in the Philadelphia region. Steve continues to serve on the board of the RFA, and assists the current executives in the modernization of the RFA.
